Creative West
I recently had the pleasure of working with the City of Maribyrnong in branding Creative West – a new creative hub planned for Footscray. Creative West includes the redevelopment of the existing Footscray Library and carpark into a state-of-art inclusive arts space. The hub’s features include a library and learning hub, a large-scale flexible performance/events venue, a shaded park with integrated spaces recreation, gatherings and events. It will also be a vibrant centralised activation space for Footscray that will stimulate economic, employment and business into the future.
The brief was to create a brand that visually suggests amplification of creativity throughout the west.
My solution was to create a brandmark including a stylised soundwave, with W shapes embedded. The mark’s curves are also used and echoed in the logotype’s typography.
Deliverables included various digital and print assets, rock posters and flags, seen throughout the Footscray and inner west.
A further element was an animated logo version. I collaborated with my brilliant colleague Matt O’Brien, who did the animation art direction and animation.
I was very grateful to work on such a prestigious project in my own community. As an inner-western creative myself, it is a project very close to my heart!
