Creative West
I recently had the pleasure of working with the City of Maribyrnong in branding Creative West – a new creative hub planned for Footscray. Creative West includes the redevelopment of the existing Footscray Library and carpark into a state-of-art inclusive arts space, to foster a vibrant and thriving community.
The Creative West project will improve access to a range of cultural and community spaces that are currently lacking in Melbourne's west. The hub's features include:
• a world-class library and learning hub to enhance education, creativity and innovation
• a large-scale flexible performance/events venue to support creatives and inspiring audiences across the west
• a shaded park with integrated spaces for wellbeing, recreation, gatherings and events for the community
• a vibrant centralised activation space for the Footscray CBD that will stimulate and drive economic, employment and business activation well into the future
The brief was to create a brand that visually suggests amplification of creativity throughout the west. My solution was to create a stylised soundwave, with W shapes embedded.
I was very grateful to work on such a prestigious project in my own community. As an inner western creative myself, it is a project very close to my heart.
